Biography

Comprised of several Midwestern rap artists who collaborate via the Internet by exchanging MP3 recordings among themselves, the Impossebulls are somewhat of a virtual rap group, and a revolutionary one at that. Like the man who brought them together and presented them to the world on his Slam Jamz imprint, legendary Public Enemy rabble-rouser Chuck D, the group lashes out with a highly political style. They target the oligarchic music industry with its MTV-sanctioned rappers and rap-co-opting major labels. Their initial critique of the industry, "We Don't Need You," foreshadowed their subsequent work compiled on their debut album, Special Edition (2002). Though they're a loose collective, the Impossebulls have a few core members: Pvt Militant (Flint, MI), Marcus J (Xenia, OH), DJ President Ike (Manhattan, NY), and DJ Def Chad (Pittsburgh, PA). Other members include Old School 76, Koz, Wildman Steve, XL, Dels, Jeff 10, Redbull, Xeno, Jamod, and producer C-Doc.
