Biography

Simon Smith is an inventive Scottish producer who's been (understandably) pigeon-holed into the drill'n'bass scene for his idiosyncratic use of samples and notable lack of attention span when it comes to packing his tracks full of ideas and sound. Reportedly classically trained, Smith began releasing his productions in 1997, after an association with James Hardway helped earn release for the Odd Toot's Hot Rock Tee EP on Hardway's Recordings of Substance. The Bampot album followed later that summer, and Smith moved to the related Hydrogen Dukebox label for 2000's Mental Money.
