Biography

Formed in the late '90s in Cincinnati's Ohio River Valley, the Shams consist of vocalist/guitarist Zach Gabbard, second guitarist Adam Wesley, bassist Chad Hardwick, and drummer Keith Fox. A refreshing detour from the often-predictable, commercial radio rock of the early 21st century, the Shams specialize in stripped down garage rock that also incorporates elements of '60s psychedelic and blues. Prior to signing with the independent Orange label, they built a following in their hometown, being voted Best Local Unsigned Band in Cincinnati by the website www.citysearch.com. The Shams issued their debut release in August of 2001, titled Take Off, and they describe it as being compiled of recordings from basements, living rooms, and some studio dates.
