Biography

The Skoidats are a ska-punk band from Missoula, Montana, deriving their name from the hints of Oi! punk in their music, although it should be noted that the group are anything but racists. When the group formed in Helena in 1995, it consisted of guitarist/vocalist Justin Dillavou, bassist Chuck Fuller, drummer Gardner Dunn, and tenor saxophonist Josh Crenz; after a move to Missoula, two University of Montana marching band members, tenor saxophonist John Chapman and trombonist John Knight, completed the lineup. After signing with Moon Ska, the Skoidats released their debut album, The Times, in 1997; Crenz left shortly thereafter to join the military, and the remaining band issued Cure for What Ales You in 1999.
