Biography

The punk group Vigilantes formed in Boston in the late '90s. Members are lead singer Jasper McGandy, guitarist Fernando Strohmeyer, bassist and singer Jeff DaRosa, and drummer Patt Melzard. All four of the members were still in their teens when the band began landing their first professional gigs. Still, critics found the young guys to be a talented mix who offered punk music in a gratifying style that was born before the members, and yet offered new flavor at the same time. The Vigilantes increased an already growing fan base by touring around the United States as the opening act for popular groups such as the Dropkicks, the Ducky Boys, Beer Zone, Running Riot, Blood for Blood, and Anti-Heros. Gaining positive attention from reviewers, the Vigilantes soon signed a deal with Flat Records. In October of 2000, the group completed its debut offering, an EP titled No Destiny. The recording carries six tracks, including "The Traffic Tale of Fate and Death," "We Will Outlive You," "To You My Friend," "Vigilante Justice," and "Through the Cracks."
