Biography

Formed in 2001 in Montreal, Canada. Torngat was an instrumental trio. Their first release, Torngat, a full length, was released just a year later. A live recording saw release in 2004, but it was the EP La Rouge, which saw the light of day in 2005, that earned the band a real boost in popularity. Following a successful tour of their native nation, Torngat scored a record deal with Alien8. With deal in tow, the band -- Pietro Amato, Mathieu Charbonneau, Julien Poissant, all playing a myriad of instruments, many of which shift ownership during shows -- went into the studio to work on their next full length work. The resulting product, You Could Be, was a collection of ‘post-rock' that won the group more critical plaudits, both home and abroad.
