Biography

Known for performing incredibly raw, deliberately crummy black metal inspired by the likes of Venom, Hellhammer and Darkthrone, Viking Crown is a side-project uniting Necrophagia vocalist Killjoy and one Anton Crowley -- actually none other than Pantera legend Phil Anselmo. Brought together by their worship of the above-cited purveyors of primitive, Satan-worshipping black metal, the duo first collaborated on 1999's Unorthodox Steps Of Ritual EP and Innocence From Hell album, both also featuring Anselmo's then-girlfriend Opal Enthroned (a.k.a. Stephanie Opal) handling keyboards. The trio never toured behind, and did little to promote these releases, but, after two years back at work with their regular "day-jobs," they reconvened to record 2001's Banished Rhythmic Hate for the Season of Mist label.
