Biography

Formed in 2002 in Jakarta after sparks flew between students Aprilia Apsa and Yusmario Farabi while teaching at the Art Institute of Cikini, eclectic pop outfit White Shoes & the Couples Company blend lazy, Burt Bacharach-inspired melodies with winsome indie pop to create a truly unique sound. Vocalist Apsa and guitar player Farabi, along with second guitarist Saleh, bassist/cellist Ricky Sury Virgana, piano/viola player Prawidyanti Virgana, and percussionist John Navid released the group's self-titled debut on Minty Fresh Records in Europe in 2004. It was released in the United States with bonus tracks in 2007.
