Biography

Twenty-two hours after sending out their demo, Oslo, Norway's quirky electronica duo Xploding Plastix were receiving record company phone calls. Formed in early 1999 by Jens Petter Nilsen and Hallvard Hagen, Xploding Plastix spent a year forming their sound before sending out their demo. Beatservice Records released their first single, "Treat Me Mean, I Need the Reputation," in 2000 and it soon became a favorite of edgier DJs like Coldcut and LTJ Bukem. In 2001 Beatservice released their debut album, Amateur Girlfriends Go Proskirt Agents, along with the EP Behind the Eightball. Palm Pictures reissued their debut in 2004.
