Biography

In addition to his blues-rock-inflected Southern Gentlemen, shred-guitar legend David T. Chastain busied himself near the turn of the millennium with Zanister, a band which fit neatly into the revival of melodic, prog rock-tinged power metal (think Judas Priest or Iron Maiden) gaining favor in some headbanging circles. Chastain was joined by guitarist Michael Harris, his brother Brian Harris on drums, bassist James Martin, and lead vocalist Brian Sarvela (also of the Reign of Terror). Zanister debuted on record in 1999 with Symphonica Millennia; the follow-up, Fear No Man, was released in early 2001.
