A contemporary Christian rock band, Big Daddy Weave formed in 1998 in Mobile, Alabama, where the bandmembers, Mike Weaver (guitar, lead vocals), Jay Weaver (bass, vocals), Jeremy Redmon (guitar, vocals), Jeff Jones (drums), and Joe Shirk (saxophone, keyboards) were all attending school. Led by Mike Weaver's strong lead vocals and songwriting skills, the band has grown into a successful recording and touring act, and has released several albums, including Neighborhoods (independently released in 2001), One and Only (2002 on Fervent Records), Fields of Grace (2003 on Fervent), What I Was Made For (2005 on Fervent), Every Time I Breathe (2006 on Fervent), What Would Life Be Like (2008 on Fervent), Christ Is Come (2009 on Fervent), The Ultimate Collection (a compilation of previously released key tracks that appeared in 2011 on Fervent), and Love Come to Life (2012 on Fervent).

The band met while in college at the University of Mobile. Mike Weaver had been serving as worship leader of a Pensacola, Florida church and attending community college in the area. He came to the university at the urging of his pastor, and studied voice.
In both 2006 and 2007, Big Daddy Weave toured with Mark Schultz on his Broken and Beautiful Tour.
