All Music Guide:
A longtime fixture in Chicago, Bobby Lewis finally had some opportunities to lead his own recording dates in the 1990s (for the local Southport label). A top studio musician with a lyrical jazz style, since 1964 Lewis has appeared on over 6,500 recording sessions, including a countless number of jingles, film scores, and records, usually in fairly anonymous roles. He led the Ears, a jazz group that for 17 years (1975-1992) played every Tuesday night at Orphan's Pub, and featured his quintet at Andy's Jazz Club each Friday night for many years. A thoughtful improviser, Lewis also displays a cool tone and subtle feeling in his occasional vocals.
