All Music Guide:

Berlin-based Boys Noize producer Alexander Ridha releases music similar in style to the French electro of Kitsuné Music and Ed Banger Records. He also runs his own label, Boysnoize Records, which features other producers of a similar style, and he is a prolific remixer whose credits include well-known acts such as Bloc Party, Depeche Mode, Feist, and Justice.

Born in Hamburg, Germany, Ridha moved to Berlin when he was 21 years old. Chiefly inspired by Daft Punk, he established himself as a talented producer in 2004 with the International Deejay Gigolo Records 12" single The Bomb!/Boy Neu. In 2005 Ridha founded Boysnoize Records and released a pair of Boys Noize 12" singles (Optic/He-Man, Volta 82) on the label, which subsequently featured the work of Einzeller, John Starlight, Eastwest, I-Robots, PUZIQUe, Housemeister, Lady B, Les Petits Pilous, and others. Meanwhile, he produced one-off releases for Anthony Rother's Datapunk label (Are You In?, 2005), Tiga's Turbo label (Erole Attakk, 2006), and Kitsuné Music (Feel Good [TV=Off], 2007).

Oi Oi Oi (2007) marked the full-length album debut of Ridha as Boys Noize; Last Gang Records licensed the album for release in North America, along with an EP of remixes, Oi Oi Oi Remixed. A popular Boys Noize remix of Feist's "My Moon My Man" was included as a bonus track on Oi Oi Oi. It was one of several remixes -- most notably Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus," Bloc Party's "Banquet," and Justice's "Phantom, Pt. 2" -- that helped popularize the Boys Noize brand. The studio albums Power and Out of the Black followed, respectively, in 2009 and 2012, while Ridha continued to field remix duties for the likes of the Chemical Brothers, N.E.R.D., and Daft Punk.

Wikipedia:

Alexander Ridha (born in 1982 in Hamburg), better known by his stage name Boys Noize, is a German electronic music producer and DJ. It is similar to the name of Ridha's label, Boysnoize Records, which he established in 2005. Ridha has remixed a number of other artists work, including Snoop Dogg and Depeche Mode.

Biography [edit]

Ridha started producing and DJing from an early age, including a period in which he supported Felix Da Housecat and DJ Hell under the alias of Kid Alex. Today, Ridha himself is known as one of the most valuable electronic artists, awarded with the Independent Music Award in 2010 as well as 3 years in a row as Best Electronic Artist on Beatport. His music is known to merge various styles and has a unique and innovative sound, with influences of hip-hop and disco roots as well as heavy noise and electro house sounds. His DJ sets are equally praised and have gained worldwide recognition for the mixing and visuals.

Ridha released his early work on labels such as International Deejay Gigolos Records, Kitsuné Music and Turbo Recordings. In order to retain full artistic freedom however, he established his imprint Boysnoize Records in 2005. Both of his LPs "OI OI OI" and its successor "POWER" were recorded under this label, as well as the singles "Don't Believe The Hype", "&Down" and "Jeffer" as well as "Transmition".

He remixed David Lynch, N.E.R.D, Depeche Mode, Snoop Dogg and The Chemical Brothers amongst many other well-known artists and became a producer of note, having worked with Kelis, UK rapper Kano, The Black Eyed Peas, and the South Korean band Big Bang. Chilly Gonzales' "Ivory Tower" is his first fully produced and co-written album, released in August 2010. He has further collaborated with his friend and fellow Erol Alkan: The first record "Death Suite" / "Waves" was released on Ridhas imprint BNR, followed by "Lemonade" / "Avalanche", which came out on Erol's label Phantasy Sound. An "Avalanche" re-release, a new version featuring Brit-God Jarvis Cocker, is due for early 2011. Ridha is currently working on his forthcoming Spank Rock album, and is also collaborating with the New York band Scissor Sisters. His recent release of original Boys Noize tracks in September 2010 celebrated the 50th release on Boysnoize Records as well as the launch of the first sublabel BNR TRAX, which presented its first release in October 2010. Ridha announced through Facebook that his third studio album, entitled Out of the Black, would be released on October 2, 2012. In a recent interview, Ridha also stated that his new album features two collaborations with Snoop Dogg.

For the launch of his third album Out of the Black in 2012, Ridha hired directors Patrick Jean & Sebastien Loghman for Boys Noize's two first official music videos Ich R U and What You Want.

In 2012, Boys Noize formed a side project with Skrillex called Dog Blood which is in the dirty house genre. Dog Blood performed at the 2013 Miami Ultra Music Festival.
