Hailing from South London's Tooting neighborhood, Dignan Porch began as the lo-fi psych-pop bedroom musings of Joe Walsh (not to be confused with the classic rocker of the same name), but soon became a full-fledged band featuring Walsh's guitarist brother Sam, bassist Ben Goodwin, and drummer Philippa Bloomfield. Walsh initially intended to call the project Porch but added Dignan to the name after a friend's dog. The band released its first single, the 90-second "On a Ride," in 2009; the single caught the attention of Captured Tracks, who discovered Dignan Porch via MySpace and signed them, releasing their debut album, Tendrils (which was based largely on Walsh's eight-track bedroom recordings) in early 2010. For 2011's Deluded EP, the band recorded with Henry Withers and added keyboardist/vocalist/visual artist Hayley Akins and drummer Stephen Keane to the fold, both of whom contributed to the EP's more polished, fleshed-out sound. The band's second full-length, Nothing Bad Will Ever Happen, was recorded live with minimal overdubs and released in August 2012.
