All Music Guide:

Drawing deep from the well of Southern rock and hard rock in general, Dixie Witch is, fittingly, from Denton, Texas. Trinidad Leal (drums and vocals), Clayton Mills (guitar), and Curt Christensen (bass) have been playing together since 1999. The trio's first record, Into the Sun, was produced by the band for Texas-based Brainticket Records and released in the summer of 2001. After extensive touring, including a stint supporting fellow heavy rockers Alabama Thunder Pussy, Dixie Witch signed with Detroit's Small Stone Records for its 2003 follow-up, One Bird, Two Stones. A third album, Smoke & Mirrors, followed in 2006, and, after touring through America (including multiple appearances at the SXSW music conference and Emissions from the Monolith festival) and visiting Europe for the first time, Dixie Witch recruited new guitarist Joshua “JT” Todd Smith in 2009. Now based in Austin, Texas, the band issued its fourth album, Let it Roll, through Small Stone in the summer of 2011.

Wikipedia:

Dixie Witch is a Texas based hard rock power trio formed by guitarist Clayton Mills, drummer/vocalist Trinidad Leal, and bassist/vocalist Curt Christensen in the fall of 1999. The band quickly gained popularity throughout Texas though successful regional touring and released their self-produced debut album "Into the Sun" on Brainticket Records in 2001. Beginning that summer, the band embarked on the "Southern Domination" US Tour with Alabama Thunderpussy and Suplecs. Following that tour, the band continued with subsequent US touring and signed with Detroit based Small Stone Records in 2003. "One Bird, Two Stones", produced by Jeff Pinkus of the Butthole Surfers and Honky, was released that spring and the band's third album "Smoke and Mirrors", produced by Joel Hamilton, was released in 2006.

Dixie Witch toured the US heavily from 2001 through 2006 and in Europe in 2008. The band was a regular act at the Emissions from the Monolith festival, performed at the Roadburn Festival in 2008 and has appeared at the South by Southwest Music Conference every year since 2001.

Dixie Witch's songs have appeared on soundtracks to the video games NHL 2005 and Major League Baseball 2K6 as well as popular tv shows Viva La Bam, the Mentalist, and more.

In early 2009, founding guitarist Clayton Mills left the band and has been replaced by J.T. The band currently resides in Austin, Texas.
