Chicago's dream-pop quartet Melochrome consists of vocalist/bassist Darlene Poole, vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist Pramod Tummala, guitarist/bassist/keyboardist Thomas Stanley, and drummer Josh Isaacs. The group formed in 1996 and began gigging almost immediately after; at their third show, producer Keith Cleversley approached them about recording a single for his new label, Luminous Records. The "Lift"/"Isis" single arrived in 1997, and Melochrome and Cleversley teamed up again for the full-length The Music We Make, which was released in late 1999. Stay a Little Longer was their follow-up, arriving in record stores in the fall of 2001. This is Motion appeared the following summer.
