Milk Music is an American punk rock band originating from Olympia, Washington. The band consists of Alex Coxen (vocals, guitar) Joe Rutter (drums), Charles Waring (guitar), and Dave Harris (bass).
The band's first release was a demo album, Self-Titled Demo Tape, which was released independently as a cassette in 2009. These were followed by the Beyond Living EP, which was released through Perrenial Records in 2010 and Almost Live live cassette, which was released independently in 2012. The band's upcoming debut album, Cruise Your Illusion, was released on April 2, 2013.
In the spring of 2013, the band toured North America with Merchandise and Destruction Unit. The band also performed in Pitchfork Music Festival and Primavera Sound festival in 2012.
The band's music is often compared to Hüsker Dü, Dinosaur Jr., and Meat Puppets, by which they are influenced. The band's other influences include Black Flag, Neil Young, Sonic Youth, The Velvet Underground, The Rolling Stones, Townes Van Zandt and Richard Thompson. The band's music was also characterized by its fuzzy and melodic guitars, and lo-fi aesthetics, which were likened to mid-1980s SST Records releases and early '90s' indie rock. The band was also labeled as "grunge", a genre which the frontman Alex Coxen dismisses.Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page, but the references will not show without a {{reflist}} template (see the help page).
