Biography

The music of Brooklyn's My Teenage Stride reflects a hyperactive antipodean pop sensibility subtly offset by the haunted lyrics of permanently-wired frontman Jedediah Smith. The band has progressed through several incarnations on the way to their new self-released digital EP, Lesser Demons. Initially a solo 4-track recording project for Smith (see A Sad Cloud) and gradually expanding through 2005's Major Major (Becalmed), the group began to coalesce on Ears Like Golden Bats. The Lesser Demons EP found a full band playing on every track.

While paying homage to the Sounds of Young Scotland/Manchester/Dunedin, there's more going on under the surface. Smith's fatalistic visions of a tri-state area haunted by ghosts, genies and stranded travelers are buoyed by a band that wants to keep it snappy.
