Parlor Hawk is a folk rock band. Their music has drawn comparisons to Brett Dennen and Ryan Adams
Parlor Hawk released their debut album Hoarse & Roaring in the summer of 2010. The album was produced by folk singer/songwriter Joshua James, mastered by Reuben Cohen (Across The Universe, Slumdog Millionaire Soundtracks) and mixed by Todd Burke (Belle & Sebastian, Johnny Cash, Jack Johnson, Ben Harper). Hoarse & Roaring also features Branden Campbell (bassist of platinum rock group Neon Trees) on every track.
Hoarse & Roaring was featured on the July 2010 iTunes Indie Spotlight Podcast. In December the album was featured on the iTunes Indie Spotlight page as a "Best of 2010" Singer/Songwriter Album. Music from their album was also featured on the Yamaha Experience Music: A TuneCore Music Sampler which reached #1 on the Amazon.com Free MP3 Albums Chart with more than 20,000 downloads in the USA. In January 2011 their home state paper, The Salt Lake Tribune, singled the band out as 2011's Next Emerging Band. They also won Acoustic Song of the Year (for "Saddest Song") in the 2011 Independent Music Awards and were nominated for Best Album Art Work.
Parlor Hawk toured with Joshua James during the summer of 2010 and The Desert Noises in the fall. They played a residency in Singapore in May 2011. Parlor Hawk also played a handful of festivals in 2010 including Neon Reverb Festival, Desert Rocks Festival, Fork Festival (headliner), and Earth Festival.
The band have also played shows with mainstream and indie acts including: The Civil Wars, Train, Priscilla Ahn, Johnny Flynn, The Weepies, Matt Costa, Barenaked Ladies, Frontier Ruckus, Isaac Russell, Sharon Van Etten, Rocky Votolato, Matt Pond PA, OK SWEETHEART, Julie Feeney, Mindy Gledhill, Carney, Sahara Smith, Vita Chambers, Hey Monday, Imagine Dragons, and many more.
