All Music Guide:

Presumably hailing from London, although their background is shrouded in mystery, the enigmatic Patten incorporates a lo-fi production technique with their minimalist electronic instrumentals and adds dancey post-punk beats. The group started gaining recognition when their "Version (Test Mixxx)" single started making waves on internet blogs. On May 14, 2009, Pitchfork named it a Best New Track, making comparisons to Liquid Liquid and LCD Soundsystem. Kaleidoscope released their first album There Were Horizons, as a digital download, in a "pay-what-you-like" manner (modeled after Radiohead's In Rainbows release), and also as a mail-order CD, packaged in an exuberant 7" sleeve complete with a fold-out Patten poster. Their follow-up, Sketching the Tesseract, was released soon after in the same fashion.
