Biography

The gentlemen of Pinq formed in 1998 after the demise of indie rock loudmouths Goldenrod and aimed for spiritual musical journey. Tim Mitchell (vocals/guitar), Ben Montesano (drums), and Greg Bertens (bass) trudged in and around their native San Francisco during the late '90s. Andrew Simas joined on keyboards just in time to record a demo, but was quickly replaced by multi-instrumentalist Tad Ro by mid-2000. By this time, Pinq had comfortably found something dark and deep, and engineer John Croslin (Mates of State, Spoon) tweaked and mastered that for a debut album entitled Quiet Games for Hot Weather. Peppercorn's Kurt Hobson and AM Magic's Mike Alexis completed Pinq's rhythm section by the next year and grouped together for the proper release of Quiet Games for Hot Weather in spring 2002.
