Pissing Razors was an American groove metal band originally formed in the mid 90s and disbanded in 2004.

Biography

The band originally was named "Back Door Cyclops" but decided to change its name and style of music to incorporate more raw sounding vocals.

In the early 90s, the band's original drummer, Danny Garcia, decided to move from El Paso, TX to New York City, NY. Danny's brother Eddy took this opportunity to switch from playing guitar to drums. Matt Lynch then moved from bass to lead guitar and Rick Valles was then hired as the new bass player. Together with Joe Rodriguez who was hired on vocals about six months before, this line-up proved to be progressive. In 1997, the band was signed to German/Los Angeles-based Noise Records and released their self-titled CD the following year. Five more albums were released from 1999 to 2003 and the band got the opportunity to participate in several festivals and shows across the world. In 2000, the band was asked to contribute to a song for a Pantera tribute album, entitled Panther: A Tribute To Pantera from Eclipse Records. They provided the opening track, Domination.

Mat Lynch would eventually decide to depart the band due to personal matters. The band would recruit then-guitar tech for Lynch, Cesar "Achmex" Soto into his place. The band continued writing material for the Fields Of Disbelief album. In 2000, singer Joe Rodriguez quit the band, stating that he wished to spend more time with his family. He was abruptly replaced by Jason "Dewey" Bragg, who recorded on the 2001 album "Where We Come From", but left shortly afterwards. Jason Bragg was replaced by Andre Acosta after the "Where We Come From" tour. Andre's first contribution to the band would be the live album "Live in the Devil's Triangle", titled after the nickname given to the area of town where Eddie Garcia (drummer) grew up in and featured the band's actual touring RV on the cover. 2002 brought another line-up change when Cesar "Achmex" Soto abruptly quit the band in October due to financial issues. He contacted the widely popular Roadrunner Records site; Blabbermouth.net to publicly announce his departure even though he was asked to keep it under wraps as the other members figure out what to do. Shortly after, it was announced on the same site that he had joined fellow ex-members of the band; Matt Lynch and Joe Rodriguez in a new unsigned project "Fueled II Fire". About a month later Eddy and Rick contracted Matt Difabio, the guitar player and front man of a Langhorn, PA band "Single Bullet Theroy", as Soto's replacement.

In 2004, Pissing Razors quietly disbanded following the less than enthusiastic response by the fans of the bands record Evolution. Some suspect that the constant line up change also contributed to the original sound being lost.
