All Music Guide:

The Pointer Sisters regularly scored pop and soul hits throughout the '70s and '80s in a chameleonic variety of styles. Their first successes for Blue Thumb Records blended funky rhythms with a novel nostalgic attitude, leading to their first number one R&B single in 1975, "How Long (Betcha' Got a Chick on the Side)." In 1979, they covered Bruce Springsteen's "Fire" and headed in a more contemporary direction on the Planet label; "He's So Shy," "Slow Hand," "Automatic," and "Jump (For My Love)" were savvy ditties that blazed trails across the R&B and pop charts.
