A French rapper known for using the local street slang dubbed "verlan" -- a style where syllables are inverted like in backslang or pig Latin -- Ridan came to fame in 2004, the year he released his debut album, Le Rêve Ou la Vie, which featured the hit single "Le Quotidien." Three years later he returned with L'Ange de Mon Démon, a much more serious album that asked the younger generation to hold onto hope in an increasingly turbulent world.

Nadir Kouidri better known by his stage name Ridan (born 1975 in France), is a French singer/songwriter of Algerian origin launched into the limelight in 2004. His stage name is the reversal of his real name Nadir.
He is known for his urban poetry in French banlieue (suburbs). A recurring theme in his songs is the difficult life of Arab immigrants in France. One of his most famous and popular songs is "Ulysse".
