All Music Guide:

A well-known and well-respected tenor from Mexico, Rolando Villazon (born Emilio Rolando Villazon Mauleon in Mexico City on February 22, 1972) released three solo albums with Virgin Classics (including 2007's Gitano, which was recorded under the direction of Plácido Domingo) before moving to Deutsche Grammophone in 2007. He made appearances at the 2005 Salzburg Festival, and in 2007 -- in addition to releasing two albums that year (one being Gitano, the other being a collection of operatic duets with Anna Netrebko) -- he sang a selection of arias from various composers (including Verdi, Puccini, and Tchaikovsky) in Prague.
