Locking horns somewhere betwixt the worlds of Southern sludge and art metal (well, Arkansas-style anyway), the band known as Rwake formed in Little Rock around 1997, recording their first demo the following year, and self-releasing a second, entitled Absence Due to Projection, in 1999. Another three years passed before the arrival of Rwake's first proper album, Hell Is a Door to the Sun, and another long-player, If You Walk Before You Crawl, You Crawl Before You Die, was completed for release through At a Loss Records in 2004. At this juncture, the group's lineup consisted of Chris Terry (vocals), Gravy (guitar), Kiffen (guitar), Reid (bass), Jeff (drums), and B. (Moog/vocals/samples).

Rwake is a Southern sludge metal band from Little Rock, Arkansas, USA, that began as a jamming four-piece in 1996. The band was originally called Wake. The first Wake show was March 15, 1997 in Batesville, Arkansas at the Landers Theater.
They began touring in Oct. 2001, and have self-released two recordings, Xenoglossalgia: The Last Stage of Awareness, and, Absence Due to Projection. Since then 3 more releases have been Hell is a Door to the Sun, If You Walk Before You Crawl, You Crawl Before You Die and Voices Of Omens.
The band signed with Relapse Records in January 2006, and released "Voices Of Omens" in February 2007. Since their Relapse debut, Rwake has maintained a busy touring schedule in support of Voices Of Omens. Since then the band has laid low playing a few road stints here and there and going over seas two different times to Hellfest in France, and back for Roadburn in Holland and further dates in Europe and finally the UK. The band finished up work for their 2nd original album on Relapse in January 2011. It is simply titled Rest, and was released September 27.
