Founded in 1999 in Osnabrück, Lower Saxony, Germany, the duo is comprised of Stephan Otten (drums, sampling, programming) and Oliver Klemm (guitar, keyboards) and has been complimentarily likened to Portishead. Sankt Otten made their recording debut in 1999 with the four-track Stille Tage im Klischee EP on Eleganz Records, followed by the full-length album Eine Kleine Traurigkeit (2000).
