All Music Guide:

Fed up with the bland pop-punk and pretentious indie rock that infiltrated their Bay Area scene, The Cuts wanted to smoke it all a by drilling back to the old school punk ethics of The Saints, The Stooges, The Real Kids and DMZ. By merging this angst with hints of early 80's new wave, Lookout Records applauded them and released their debut EP "Heart Attack" in 1999.

Wikipedia:

The Cuts were a rock and roll band from Oakland, California.

Oaklands only Rock n' Roll group The Cuts were formed by Carlos Palacios, Andy Jordan and Eric Johnson in 1998. Johnson left the band and Andy Jordan, Carson Bell, Elizabeth Dotzler and Garrett Goddard solidified this lineup and the band cut the Heart Attack 7" on Lookout Records. They went on tour with The Donnas in 1999 and recorded their first, self titled LP for Rock N Roll Blitzkreig. "Danny James" Aaberg replaced Dotzler and Bell took his leave in 2000 and in 2001, the Cuts moved to El Paso to live cheaply and work on their writing, resulting in the 2nd LP: Two Over Ten, which began the bands stint with Birdman Records. While The Cuts rapidly garnered a reputation as crazed, dangerous Rock and Rollers, they were also developing a complex, pop style incorporating their knowledge of psychedelia, powerpop and glam. Guitar virtuoso Ben Brown joined up for the 3rd, and most accomplished Cuts album; From Here On Out. Released in 2006, with glowing reviews, it wasn't enough to save The Cuts. Later in the same year the band called it quits. In 2012 The Cuts reunited for select dates.
