All Music Guide:
The Skoidats are a ska-punk band from Missoula, Montana, deriving their name from the hints of Oi! punk in their music, although it should be noted that the group are anything but racists. When the group formed in Helena in 1995, it consisted of guitarist/vocalist Justin Dillavou, bassist Chuck Fuller, drummer Gardner Dunn, and tenor saxophonist Josh Crenz; after a move to Missoula, two University of Montana marching band members, tenor saxophonist John Chapman and trombonist John Knight, completed the lineup. After signing with Moon Ska, the Skoidats released their debut album, The Times, in 1997; Crenz left shortly thereafter to join the military, and the remaining band issued Cure for What Ales You in 1999.
Wikipedia:
The Skoidats were a band that played music combining elements of ska, Oi!, jazz, and punk rock.
They had a contemporary sound rooted in the 1960s ska traditions of Baba Brooks, the Ethiopians and the Skatalites. Unlike some ska-related bands, the Skoidats' sound varied greatly from song to song. The Skoidats formed in the summer of 1995 in Helena, Montana, and soon after their inception, they relocated to Missoula, Montana, losing two members. After arriving in Missoula, the three original members recruited two members of the University of Montana marching band. They have toured the country four times, and have performed with bands such as The Slackers, MU330, Mephiskapheles, The Allstonians, The Scofflaws, Let's Go Bowling and The Skatalites.
The formation on their second album consisted of Gardner Dunn (Drums), John Knight (Trombone, Vocals), John Chapman (Saxophone, Vocals), Chuck Fuller (Bass) and Justin Dillavou (Lead Vocals, Guitar).
