All Music Guide:

Journeyman guitarist, songwriter and producer Tom Hemby is longtime Nashville backing and session musician who also sustains his own solo career. Born in Missouri, Hemby got his start touring with numerous artists including Amy Grant, the Imperials and others. In 1978, he settled in Nashville and found studio work recording with an ever-expanding list of musicians that, over the years, has included everyone from Vince Gill, Glen Campbell and Kenny Loggins to Bebe & CeCe Winans and Peter Cetera. He has had his own songs recorded by a variety of artists, and received several awards -- including four Dove Awards and a Grammy for his production work. Hemby's solo albums, including 2006's Chasing the Wind and 2010's In the Moment, lean more toward instrumental jazz-fusion.
