A longtime engineer, guitar tech and noisemaker, Wharton Tiers has worked with the cream of the East Coast's alternative/noise community, including Glenn Branca, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur, Jr., Helmet, Unsane, Gumball, Quicksand, Shudder to Think and Run On. Over the period of half a decade during the 1990s, he also worked on solo recordings with a unique four-guitar ensemble; the album, Brighter than Life, was released in 1996.

Wharton Tiers (born 1953 in Philadelphia) is an American audio engineer, record producer, drummer and percussionist.
Biography
Diplomed from Villanova University (Radnor Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania), he moved to New York City in 1976 and was part of the No Wave scene.
As an audio engineer and record producer, he has worked on projects such as Sonic Youth, Glenn Branca, Helmet, Dinosaur Jr, White Zombie, Quicksand, An Albatross, The Dentists, and Gumball.
He is also known as a percussionist and drummer for Theoretical Girls, Laurie Anderson, and his own Wharton Tiers Ensemble.
