Ann Powers is the author of Weird Like Us: My Bohemian America and co-editor of Rock She Wrote: Women Write About Rock, Pop, and Rap. She is a former pop critic for the New York Times and has written for publications ranging from Rolling Stone and Spin to the Nation and Slate. She is currently a senior curator at Experience Music Project, an interactive museum in Seattle devoted to celebrating the creativity inherent in rock & roll. She lives in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle with her husband, the noted music journalist Eric Weisbard, and daughter, Rebecca Brooklyn Weisbard, and sees the Mekons whenever humanly possible.
