He has served as music editor at the Village Voice and as a senior editor at Billboard, and has written thousands of pieces over the past 30 years for Creem, Rolling Stone, SPIN, Entertainment Weekly, and countless other publications and websites. A native of Detroit, he now lives in Austin, Texas .
