Ben Fong-Torres was a writer and music editor at Rolling Stone and was portrayed as such in the 2000 film, Almost Famous. He is the author of eight books, including the Gram Parsons bio, Hickory Wind, a memoirs (The Rice Room), and books on the Doors, the Grateful Dead and Top 40 radio. He has written for MOJO, Paste, GQ, and Esquire. He is also a broadcaster and writes the San Francisco Chronicle’s radio column.
