Celebrate National Poetry Month
Poetry is an art form as much for the ear as the eye. Close in form to music or drama — and often overlapping with both — verse really must be read aloud to be appreciated in all of its richness. These selections, arranged in a somewhat chronological order, run a fair gamut of the form, from Medieval to Modern, from Shakespeare to D. H. Lawrence. This combination of works creates some surprising and thought-provoking juxtapositions.
