Summary

Mere Christianity

By: C. S. Lewis

Narrarated by: Geoffrey Howard

"The point about reading C.S. Lewis is that he makes you sure, whatever you believe, that religion accepted or rejected means something extremely serious, demanding the entire energy of the mind."–Harper's

Mere Christianity is C.S. Lewis' forceful and accessible doctrine of Christian belief. First heard as informal radio broadcasts and then published as three separate books–The Case for Christianity, Christian Behavior, and Beyond PersonalityMere Christianity brings together what Lewis sees as the fundamental truths of the religion. Rejecting the boundaries that divide Christianity's many denominations, C.S. Lewis finds a common ground on which all those who have Christian faith can stand together, proving that "at the center of each there is something, or a Someone, who against all divergences of belief, all differences of temperament, all memories of mutual persecution, speaks with the same voice."

This is book better read than listened to. BUT it is better to listen to it than ignore it all together. Mere Christianity is a unique and powerful walk from disbelief to belief. Here is a reasoned ladder of steps... from belief in something, to belief in someone.

Insightful analysis by a previous atheist

In the beginning it was hard to ignore the tone of voice in which the narrator spoke. I thought it sounded as if he despised the author he represented, or thought he was snobby. But after listening to it, things changed. I don't know if the narrators tone changed because he got engaged or simply that I got used to his dialect. But all of a sudden, I changed my mind. this is warmly recommended listening/reading to anyone who is curious about christian belief!
