THE MIDWICH CUCKOOS is one of John Wyndham's best known works along with The Day of the Triffids and The Kraken Wakes. Probably better known as The Village of the Damned, the title of the two films of the novel, the story centres around the village of Midwich when one afternoon an event happens that changes the lives of its inhabitants for ever. The Midwich Cuckoos, first published in 1957, is well ahead of its time. Set in the present, it is one of the all time great science fiction novels.
