Travels With a Donkey in the Cevennes

This brilliant and gently-humoured travel story is a real treat from one of the world's best ever authors. Autobiographical, Stevenson's story records his experiences of travelling in the Cevennes in 1878, acompanied by his…ahem…'trusty' donkey Modestine, who herself provides a lot of amusing moments. The story also encompasses an insightful account of the conflict between Protestants and Catholics in the area, and is a wonderfully descriptive reading.
