An angry rebel, John dropped out of school and enlisted in the Army, not knowing what else to do with his life–until he meets the girl of his dreams, Savannah. Their mutual attraction quickly grows into the kind of love that leaves Savannah waiting for John to finish his tour of duty, and John wanting to settle down with the woman who captured his heart. But 9/11 changes everything. John feels it is his duty to re-enlist. And sadly, the long separation finds Savannah falling in love with someone else. "Dear John," the letter read…and with those two words, a heart was broken and two lives were changed forever. Returning home, John must come to grips with the fact that Savannah, now married, is still his true love–and face the hardest decision of his life.

It's more soothing to not have to read!
This is the 1st time I have listened to an audio book and I tried it because when I read at night I do so to help me sleep. What better way to be read to as if I were a child again! While surfing the audio book selection, (which I must add, is great!) I came upon Dear John and The Last Story. Both are currently movies that are in theaters right now. They always say the book is better so I decided on Dear John before or The Last Song before I see both movies. It was hard to choose between the two & I only chose Dear John because of the soothing music that plays in the background as the narrator reads. The Last Song preview sounded more like a daytime book. Before I knew it, I don't think I made it past chapter 2, I was asleep! LOL From from what I've listened to so far, it sounds like I have many nights of serenity and a beautiful story ahead of me!
