Carl Jefferson, one of Concord, California's most prominent citizens, was among the most successful car dealers in the nation, and a total, unabashed jazz nut. In 1972, several years after he founded the internationally famous Concord Jazz Festival, 53 year-old Jefferson sold his Ford Motors dealership at a huge profit to admittedly start "the jazz label I can never find in record stores."

Since then, Concord Jazz has continued as the label of choice for countless other grateful jazz fans the world-over, and indelibly established itself as one of the most critically applauded, highest quality and best selling jazz record companies in the history of the art form.
