About Cryptic Corporation
The Cryptic Corporation was formed in 1976 by four friends of The Residents. The four had heard about their friends' adventures in San Francisco and came over to help the group manage itself. John Kennedy had just come into some money which he could invest in The Residents and their record label, Ralph Records, and so the Corporation was formed as legal protection for his finances (since an unincorporated partnership would have let the other Corp. members run off with the money if they so desired). Ralph Records and Pore Know Graphics became branches of the new company, which proceeded to redesign The Residents' business.
