About Earache
Earache Records started in the Nottingham apartment of founder Digby Pearson, who for years previously was a prominent scenester and avid fan of the underground hardcore scene. Noticing the beginnings of a crossover of the hardcore punk and thrash metal scenes, Digby set about releasing records by bands that pushed the envelope of hardcore to it's most extreme like; Napalm Death, Morbid Angel, Entombed and Carcass. In a short span, many Earache releases began appearing on the European and U.S. charts, making Earache the by-word for extreme music. The label has fostered new underground talent with the "Wicked World" imprint for new acts. Now known internationally for all things extreme, they feature, (amongst a huge roster of outstanding bands) Mortis, The Haunted, Berzerker and Decapitated. Earache's commitment to extremity remains as steadfast as the day it started in the bedroom.
