"There are a lot of good guitar concertos out there. Unfortunately, many people don't get beyond Aranjuez. So as a guitarist, my gift to the emusic world is to introduce you to all the great guitar concertos that you can get on emusic. There is one particularly striking omission from this list which is Richard Rodney Bennett's guitar concerto. Unfortunately, no recording of this piece is available on emusic. Also, These are by far not the best recordings of these pieces. Use this as a spring board to become more acquainted with these pieces and then go for the gold to get the really great recordings by Williams, Russell, Bream, Barruecco, ect."
"Two Roberto Sierra concertos, and two Vivaldi concertos. Nice different sides of the historical spectrum. Played by none other than the great Manuel Barrueco." less
"The three solo guitar concertos by Rodrigo. The most popular Aranjuez, the baroque inspired "Fantasia para un gentilhombre," and the rarely played (but just as good as the others) "Concierto para una fiesta." Craig Ogden, guitarist." less
"The Guiliani A major guitar concerto is without question the most important guitar concerto of the 19th century. Richard Savino is great. 7 cuts, so it's a must-have." less
"Andres Segovia playing the Tedesco concerto. A great piece that grows on me more every time I listen to it. A marvelous, fun piece that is very accessible. The perfect first step out of Rodrigo land." less
