"There are very few, if any, albums I can think of that I would whole-heartedly recommend to absolutely anyone and everyone...
...This is one.
It is pondering, youthful, energy, whimsical and frankly lovely. I just bought my Dad this on vinyl for fathers day - he doesn't know what it is but he should like it.
The closing 'I cry myself to sleep at night' refrain on the song 'Come On Feel The Illinoise!' sounds like resigning yourself in the most beautiful way - not everything is perfect, but if it was nothing would be worth fighting for.
And 'The Predatory Wasp' is my personal soundtrack to my own rom-com in my head. It will be playing when I sit down on the plane next to her just in time.
The only reason I can think not to download this album is that, really, it deserves a physical purchase." less

"Like waiting for the 52 bus to Crookes, Couples is a uniquely Sheffield-esque experience. Distilling the feel of the city into ten pop songs, it calls on the sound of many of the great bands to hail from the seven hills.
It's a bit Human League, a bit Pulp, a bit Heaven 17. It's produced by the currently on-fire Erol Alkan, also responsible for Mystery Jets' latest. It's a bit good." less

"There are two albums that I was looking forward to most this year, one is this and the other is the Friendly Fires one.
Simultaneously loved up and melancholic this transcends time and sounds like all the best electro-pop from the past 30 years at once - Kraftwerk, New Order... It's all here.
Out There On The Ice just might break your heart. Oh - and this isn't even out on physical release yet proving why we heart emusic." less
"British Sea Power always seemed a lit..." more
"British Sea Power always seemed a little po-faced to me and 'Do You Like Rock Music?' has to be in my top ten all time most hated album titles. The cover is rubbish too.
What's good is the soaring melodies and uplifting tunes. Do You Like Rock Music sees BSP reborn as a post-Arcade Fire / post-rock pop band and to say it is un-enjoyable would be more po-faced than I thought the band were.
No Lucifer is sweeping majesty, All In It a beautiful if brief start and Waving Flags a goose-bump inducing anthem describing our strange nationalist / multi-cultural times.
Oh, We Close Our Eyes is like a long version of All In It, which is a good thing. Thanks guys!" less

"He has a brand new album out (Sixes & Sevens) but it seems slightly over-produced and probably doesn't over shadow this.
Adam Green is your man from The Moldy Peaches and this is my favourite of his solo albums. Jessica is a lovely ballad about Jessica Simpson and if you don't like it I don't like you." less
