"A four star project from Frontiers, with session guitarist TDenander making his dream of working with Toto personnel come true. Fredriksen, responsible for vocals in the band`s timeless Isolation effort of 1985, does a good job here with his trademark high vocals. Good melodic rock" less

"HoL as track 06 has it, the legend lives on. True crusaders of AOR/melodic hard rock, HoL built momentum on their excellent 80s releases with a strong return 5 years ago and now the band delights us with a collection of re-recorded old classics (mainly from Sahara, their hard to find 3rd album) and two new songs. Truly required material for candidate members of the Academy for The Annihilation of Grunge. Rock on!" less

"Wow-emusic is really delivering the goods here. HOL`s latest is sure top five melodic metal material for 2008, a strong year already. Strong overall songs and some searing playing by JBell`s white Gibson SG are sure to keep us all happy. Excellent stuff" less

"Seriosuly man if this is not your first choice for the year then radioheadcoldplay deserve their success. Leaving aside the superb quality of the songs and the ridiculously talented slide playing by Mr Landreth you have a la creme de la creme blues guitarist guestlist, with MKnopfler putting his best performance since on every street, RFord ripping his telecaster like there is no tomorrow, Mr Cliffs of Dover delivering his classic fluid playing and hear ye hear ye even the world`s most overrated guitarist, Eric, sounding like a bluesslinger. Had Landreth also gathered RCray and JHealey (RIP) this would have been a blues guitar bible." less
"Overall disappointing. Jaded Heart ar..." more
"Overall disappointing. Jaded Heart are considered to be one of the best melodic metal acts in Germany, and IV was recorded with the excellent MBormann at the helm. His vocals are soulfoul and remember dangerously BonJovi but unfortunately most songs in IV are too long and lose the listener`s attention after a bit. Too bad. The Phil Collins cover Easy Lover is OK." less

"I enjoyed their previous LP `syndrome` better but this is still five star prog rock. These polish progmeisters do not disappointing dishing out more hypnotic, organ laden suites sure to please fans of marillion, pink floyd and deep purple as mentioned by another reviewer. Excellent stuff." less

"A classic from the early 90s this is LMob`s second album, with excellent melodic metal numbers sporting Georgie`s searing playing. The man was at his peak here burning the frets of his ISP superstrat featuring the snake picture of the CD. Super stuff" less
"Sammy Hagar turned VH in a well-oiled..." more
"Sammy Hagar turned VH in a well-oiled, top-5 hard rock band during the 10 yrs or so they stuck together. Miopic early days VH fans often miss the notable improvement in the band's sound with Sammy onboard, helped by a more frequent use of synth and occasionally double guitar layers. 5150 is the eighties hard rock album, truly spaceship material for extraterrestrial civilization to discover. Now time has passed Sammy has embarked on a very successful solo career (again), in the meantime VH have made a joke of themselves first with that singer from extreme (ironically guesting here) and then with a desperate housewives lifestyle. Let's face it: Sammy (and big Mike) ARE VH. Watch out for their new project with JSatriani! Here on emusic a chance to taste Hagar live in all of his greatness, featuring both solo and VH material. Ladies and ladies: please welcome the Red Rocker" less
"What a fantastic CD by the Sammy, thi..." more
"What a fantastic CD by the Sammy, this sure is the highlight of his carrer (so far). The Waboritas' guitarist is no EVH but the quality of the material here is stellar, a great hard rock album, and in a couple of songs, notably tropic of capricorn, there are strong echoes of past vanhalen glory. Strongly recommended, the red rocker is on fire here!" less

"Rush' debut is hardly the same ilk of hold your fire, permanent waves, presto, and all other great prog rock Rush CDs, but it is still an enjoyable hard rock romp. Geddy Lee & company (minus Peart at this stage) come out with some solid ledzep HR here, worth the download!" less
"eMusic has a good review of the CD so..." more
"eMusic has a good review of the CD so there isn't much to add here: just pop the CD in and relax, let Robben, his Guild acoustic guitar and the Blue Line guys augmented by a piano player take you this dream set. A treat for all lovers of blues guitar. Only Robben could have managed so much "music" with just an acoustic guitar. No tricked up amps or pedals here: just heart and soul (oh yes and a river of technique and phrasing)" less
"Usually these projects with tens of g..." more
"Usually these projects with tens of guests suck big time but I must admit space metal deserves most of the hype. Too many great guests to list here (take Joe Lynn Turner for example), but the sci-fi theme runs well over decent prog metal compositions. Worth the download" less
"This CD got rave reviews from most ma..." more
"This CD got rave reviews from most magazines and deservedly so. Toto's leader has on offer a kaleidoscope of styles and influences ranging from fusion to jazz and hard rock, all featuring his trademark guitar wizardy, and some great guests as well(how about JWilliams' comeback from the Fahrenheit days). If you like melodic rock you owe it to yourself to download!" less
"Phoenix strikes me as an outlier in A..." more
"Phoenix strikes me as an outlier in Asia's catalogue, being perhaps the softest album they recorded yet it's definitely the most progressive yet, with two suites and longer composition with instrumental pieces. Sure, Asia now lack GowanG's guitar pyrotechnics (SHowe must have the worst sound a professional guitarist ever had) and the killer choruses are a thing of the past, but this is a good release overall. Heck at emusic' prices it's a must. Standout for us was the last piece an extraordinary life" less
"DTheater`s frontman JLaBRie in a supe..." more
"DTheater`s frontman JLaBRie in a super solo project. The music is not too different from his band efforts but this is a positive as fans of hypertechnical progmetal will enjoy elements at the fullest. The italian guitarist (unknown to me till this CD) shreds like there is no tomorrow!" less
"maybe because of the strength of VH's..." more
"maybe because of the strength of VH's catalogue (note: strangely only DLR era songs in here) or maybe because of the star studded lineup of the record (a true creme de la creme of the 80s LA metal scene). Check out some all-star line ups such as Joe Lynn Turner, Reb Beach, Marco Mendoza & Gregg Bissonette playing Dance the Night Away....awesome!!!!!!!" less
"MSG celebrates 25 yrs of service by r..." more
"MSG celebrates 25 yrs of service by releasing a whole bunch of new songs with each of the 6 singers who graced the band through the years, a new concept that helps keeping things fresh also given the short length of the songs. MS' Gibson is obviously all over the record (a good thing) and the man, recently recovered from alcohol abuse, appears in good shape. Recommended to fans of melodic hard rock (also check out UFO and Waysted on eMusic for more)" less
"eden's curse CD was hailed last year ..." more
"eden's curse CD was hailed last year as one of the best melodic metal releases, but I can't tell what the fuss is all about. The singer squeals and there is not an once of originality in here. I guess the guitar solos shred, yes they are quite good. Overall an overhyped release even at emusic prices. You would be better off looking to download the Ride the Sky CD IMO

"Jeezer begeezer! This thing rocks! RR needs no introduction let's just say guitarist/producer/arranger RoyZ gives it all on holyhell shredding like there is no tomorrow - his crunchy rhythm sound is just amazing, the stuff of guitar convention demos! Randy Rhoads would have been proud of the solo on song n.2, every note is picked regardless of the breakneck speed, no pull-off cheats here! RobRock screams his metal like a banshee reminding us of BDickinson at his best, and who cares if the vatican/opus dei financed this or wrote the lyrics! Play this back to back with slayer's south of heaven to hedge your bets." less
