Rudy Van Gelder Jazz Remasters by pcorupe
"For its 60th anniversary in 1999, Blue note had original sound engineer Rudy Van Gelder remaster some of their historic and classic albums from the 1950s and 60s in 24-bit. Often hailed as the greatest jazz recording engineer of his time, Van Gelder also did several sessions for Prestige, which have likewise benefited from his recent remastering attention.
Although Van Gelder's Blue Note remasters are owned by a major label, and are thus unavailable on eMusic, most of the Prestige recordings are here. Unfortunately, it is sometimes difficult to tell which version of the album is offered--either a RVG remaster, or an earlier remaster done as far back as 1999, but I have tried to include likely suspects. Other albums, which have been remastered but are not labeled as such on the site, have not been included.
