Did anybody else have their account roll over too soon?

I've been wrapping up my job over the last month and was putting off coming here to take my October downloads. My account normally refreshes on the eighth. So I logged in early this morning and found that my account refreshed today!?!

I am on the XL plan and still had 280 DLs from October that were wiped out. Going to be very, very upset if I don't get these back.

You would think that eMu would understand by now that they are seriously ticking people off with their lack off communication; especially with issues that effect us directly, like needlessly losing dls.

Account billing periods are on a 30 day cycle. If you would like to see the date when your account will refresh click on the account link at the top of the page and look under the account summary.

If you have an individual issue with your account please contact customer service and they will be happy to help.

Indiechick,

I have sent an email to customer service about the matter and hope that it will be resolved.

But it's unclear to me how I was supposed to know that my refresh date changed. It's been the eighth since the conversion from unlimited.

Where and when was this change communicated?

I agree with the ?. How was I supposed to know they had changed it. According to Indiechick it is renewed every 30 days, but it has been on the 6th (for me) for as long as I have been on emusic (over a year). So I don't necessarily buy what indiechick is selling.

The 30 day cycle is new apparently. The problem is what others have said numerous times; why can't they tell us in advance of changes to policy? They probably created a lot more work for themselves with all the emails they will receive about lost downloads and account modifications they will now have to make all because they didn't release a short letter about the change. I love the music here but the communication is the worst of any company I currently do business with. How hard would it be to create a subscriber news section with notices of policy updates, changes, and even press releases about new signings? I'd even like to know why some releases are here for a few days then disappear but I'd settle for all the other wishes on my list.

I love the music here but the communication is the worst of any company I currently do business with.

Here, we come to an unqualified Meeting Of The Minds, Wesley.

A certain number of us (doubtless referred to in the Halls Of eMu as The Chronic Malcontents -- or worse) have voiced concerns for quite some time (both here and over on mixtaper.com) about the abyssmal "customer relations" practices here.

In my more paranoid moments, I find myself wondering if the whole eMusic experience is some sort of elaborate social engineering experiment, deliberately constructed to be as maddeningly frustrating as possible.

Christ, it's like the devil spawn of some sort of illicit affair between the IRS and the telephone company (and no, IndieGirl, comments like "your account refreshes every 30 days; read the top of your page you stupit gitt" are not helpful -- not when it's never been that way before).

If you read IndieGirl's original message you'll notice it said "If you weren't aware of the change..."
And how exactly are we to know of the change? Well guess what...It's your job to make us aware of the change. We shouldn't have to figure it out on our own. It really is ridiculous.

Thankfully I downloaded all my tracks this period long before my refresh date so it didn't affect me.

So....how many "t"s are there in "git" (or "gitt")?

I'm an American. I can't speak or spell English. Somebody help me out.

I'm a new subscriber and had the same problem. I had about 30 dl's remaining from my first month's subscription. I, too, will be very upset if I don't get them back. (Have just written customer service about it. Let's see how long it takes to be resolved!)

I can't believe they would take away dl's that were already paid for!!! I'm pretty *&^%&*, as are the rest of you, having read the responses to "the ?".

I download via dial-up and there's a limit to the number of dl's that can be done in the course of a day, week or even month (even when using the new version of their download mgr.)

Best of luck to all of you in dealing with emusic's unfair practices...

Peace,
deirmaho

Hello beachdog67,
I believe it's a single T. You mean the slang/regional word for 'get', I presume, as in "I'm gonna git goin'." I've never seen it written with more that one T.
Hope this helps you out...

"your account refreshes every 30 days; read the top of your page you stupit gitt"

Did she actually say that?? Must be the Cheney effect.

This is from the Lennon song "I'm so tired". Doesn't help much, does it?

I'm so tired, I'm feeling so upset
Although I'm so tired I'll have another cigarette
And curse Sir Walter Raleigh
He was such a stupid get

I believe "git" is English slang for "idiot." As a Canuck, I am somewhere inbetween the two languages and only use the dodgy English shite when I've had a few pints too many!

Interestingly "get" in this sense is the northern version which covers Liverpool of course. "Git" is a southern corruption of this word. This indeed does imply that someone is an idiot but get in general terms means offspring as well.

That's how bored we are with what's on this site at the moment because of lack of new uploads to discuss!!!

Arghhhhhh

Yup. Steve's got the usage I was thinking of. Contextually, seems I've mostly heard it in conjunction with "stupid", as in "he's a stupid git".

...And, in response to whoever it was who asked: No, she didn't actually say that. I was paraphrasing. But that certainly seemed to be the tone and tenor.

Hey! We're a Message Board Of The Willing.

But it's hard work!

Has Anyone that had this problem had it resolved? I wrote them on Sat. and they have not fixed my problem or sent me any emails telling me I am out of luck.
Perhaps it is because the elections are over here in the States and I am going through conspiracy withdrawal…but I've got so many ideas about what’s actually going on in the ranks of emusic officials that it is starting to make my head spin. I sort of get the feeling that this is all some sort of psychological experiment. I have noticed that when people start complaining on the boards about no new releases, for instance, they release just enough of what we want to wet our appetites, then slink back into the shadows never to be heard from. Every time I get close to giving up on them, they offer one thing that makes me think they are finally getting their acts together after all these months. Now, though, I am seriously thinking of quitting my subscription after the end of this month.

Well, to go along with what I was saying in my previous post, as soon as I posted my last message about being unhappy with not having the renewal problem resolved, I got an email from them. Hmmmmm...I wonder.

S/he's not going to tell you. That's part of the experiment.

here is what it said:
I apologize for the inconvenience. Our billing periods are now
on a 30 day cycle instead of the same day each month. Please
click the account tab at the top of the eMusic site to see
your next refresh date.

I've added 18 downloads to your account.

Thanks for being an eMusic subscriber!

From:

http://www.worldwidewords.org

>From before 1300 a get was what had been begotten, a child or offspring. But by about 1500 it had started to be used in Scotland and northern England in the sense of misbegotten, a bastard; from there it became a general term of abuse for a fool or idiot. By about 1700 get seems to have lapsed into slang or dialect, only to reappear in the wider language in the 1940s with a different spelling and lacking the associations with illegitimacy. James Joyce uses the older spelling (and meaning) in Ulysses in 1922: “The bloody thicklugged sons of whores’ gets!” These days, it’s a widely known and used term of abuse in Britain for somebody regarded as totally worthless or useless, most commonly appearing in cries of frustration such as “that stupid git, now look what he’s done!”

I don't think emusic is full of gits or gets. I think they are understaffed and have misplaced priorities, hence the poor attention to customer service.

In our house, we refer to them as 'numpties' - well-meaning but more than a bit dim. The sort you have to look out for constantly.

Examples:

"Have you seen what those numpties have done to their website?"

"No low-fi downloads? What are the numpties up to now?"

"I sent those numpties THREE emails and what have I got - bugger all! Suppose I shall have to try again..."
