Following the discussion here has been pretty interesting. 'Wheel' is one of my favorite records of 2013 and Laura's views on the moon landing to me seem wholly irrelevant to the way the record sounds. The songs are good, regardless of whether or not she thinks we went to the moon. But it's prompted some interesting questions: would you say it's important for you that an artist share your views on issues in order for you to enjoy their music? Do you need to like an artist as a person in order to enjoy their songs? How do you make that distinction? Genuinely curious to hear the responses. Could be a fun discussion.

FWIW: Over the course of the afternoon I spent with Laura, I found her to be incredibly smart and also possessing a pretty clear vision of what she wants for her music, and where she wants it to go.

I think her comments on the moon landing just illustrate how a lot of people will hold opinions on subjects that they obviously have not taken the time to think critically about. Or, that people often lack critical thinking skills in general....

Wow. Probably a nice kid, but in the interview, really comes off as a more-than-a-little-delusional flake. I said some pretty stupid things when I was that young as well, but I think those words will likely haunt her more than a little, lol. Hope she's talented!

That being said, hey, she should be able to believe whatever she wants to believe; I now have the karmic gift of having teenagers, and it's very interesting seeing the world through their eyes.. rather than forcing them to see it through mine. That having been stated, I think they would say she's delusional as well..

All technology has to start somewhere. Saying the Apollo missions didn't happen is akin to rejecting Les Paul inventing multitrack and Steve Jobs and Woz creating the Apple systems.

In the end, it only proves one thing; she's likely artistic and creative but probably pretty low on the technical spectrum. Who cares, the world needs more artists!

Horrible cover of "Web In Front," IMHO -- and those dumb Moon Landing comments? Do you think for even one minute that the USSR would have LET US fake a moon landing? Sheer idiocy...

I'm with Knothead ... LS says she disbelieves the moon landing photos because: "I don’t think they would have been able to get the shots that they got. Those iconic images? No way. Definitely not." -- without saying WHY she thinks there would have been 'no way' ... so, do cameras not operate w/o oxygen, or what? Or is it just something she heard someone say and is mindlessly repeating? Don't most ppl who disbelieve the moon landings think it's because we didn't actually GO there, not: we went there but we didn't take those pictures? How about Opportunity -- is that not actually beaming back pictures of Mars? Whatever. I can't listen to her stuff specifically because of that nonsense....
