My Morning Jacket, At Dawn & Tennessee Fire Demos Package

  • 2007
  • Label: Darla / The Orchard

Originally presented as part of a limited At Dawn pressing — 2,500 CDs and 1,000 LPs, to be exact — the At Dawn & Tennessee Fire Demos Package pairs spare, fireside folk rarities from My Morning Jacket's first couple records with a handful of live/radio renditions that herald the riff-raking beast the band would soon become. Considering this disc once fetched top dollar prices on eBay, we can't think of a better introduction to the Kentucky band's filler-free beginnings and that voice; the one Jim James was clearly born with, as seasoned with several decades of cheap cigarettes and drained whiskey.
