Rock from Australia and New Zealand

It must take a special type of persistence to slog through the clubs of Auckland and Sydney with an eye on breaking through to the rest of the world, much of which is far, far away. Maybe that’s why such a high percentage of bands coming out of Australia and New Zealand are so great. Well known artists like The Church (especially their early stuff) and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds have been on my playlists for years. But what have I missed? As I dove deeper into this region I began surfacing some real gems. The Bats. The Clean. The Flying Nun label alone is pure gold. Relative newcomers Cut Off Your Hands were also a pleasant surprise. So get down (under) and experience what the antipodes hath wrought!
